about the author...

Statements and comments on this page must not necessarily be the personal opinion of the publisher, but may be personal opinions of other people, especially when the statements concerned are explicitly marked as citation.

Contents of Guest Books and Forums

No statement left in a guest book or Forum by a visitor should be considered the author's opinion nor do I agree with it or support it. It is by the nature of guest books and the fact that the page is a non commercial project not possible to control all statements left in guest books or forums in a short time frame (e.g. the publisher will be on vacation for three weeks in a row without checking the guest book entries). Nevertheless I will check the guest books as often as I can and immediately remove all statements that are insulting, glorifying brutal force or war, discriminate people or discuss in emotional ways subjects not related to the clarinet as such.

Furthermore I will delete all commercial offers if they don't give other readers additional helpful information.

Links to other pages

This page links to other pages, as this is the nature of internet pages.

The other pages may over time change the contents, while my link might remain. I can not check all links frequently for this. I do therefore explain that I do set links only in the sense ot citation, not in the sense that I agree with and support the opinion of the other page.

Copying contents of this page - citation

Knowledge should be free - all limitations of the transfer of ideas, knowhow and other contents will limit the speed of progress. This includes most forms of copyright and most forms of patents. It is all right to cite this page, too; you may even copy parts of the text. When doing that you should always give a correct reference to the source. For a citation in educational or scientific context you never need the author's approval.

What you must *not* do is to use the contents of the page in order to make money by reusing it in any way commercially (that is with the intent to earn money from it) without the consent of the author. So if you copy a paragraph for a school homework, fair enough; maybe you send a "thank you" via guest book. If you want a picture for a book you want to publish, you better ask formally by mail for an approval. I may be asking you to donate some money to some charity organization...

Practically: If you need a text for a school or university homework, feel free to copy the text. Then you should obey the citation rules you have to use - check with your school or university. They may differ significantly from school to school. In general a citation should refer to the source in a way that other people can find the original source without any problem.

In this case a URL like http://www.the-clarinets.net/impress.html and an access time ("accessed 2011-10-07 at 14:56 Central European Time") should be sufficient. The URL is unique, everybody with Internet access can follow it; and the date and time gives you information when the access took place. This is important because the contents could be changed over time, maybe shortly before or shortly after the access. Somewhat simplified there are no two versions of one website at the same point in time. In contrast to the access time, the time of publication of a web page does not help anybody. because nobody can go back you cannot it does not really identify the page you see. An upload could be done just for technical reasons or to fix typos.
